Now that you own your own home here are some important tips.

1. Your home is your largest single investment and any gain in value is tax free in Canada so it is extremely important that you maintain and keep your home in proper condition. This will over time substansialy improve your net worth and over all finacial health. Real estate values normaly increase every year. Maintaining that value can be one of the smartest things you can do. Appraisers call that pride of ownership and it is the first thing they look for when appraising a home for a lender.

2. If you have an older home you may qualify for many different home improvement programs especialy relating to energy. CMHC is Canada's leading housing authority and there is lots of valuable information on their website. They have an informative series of videos about home buying  just send us an email at support@yourfirsthome.ws  and we will email you the link.
